RECRUITMENT STRATEGIES

RECRUITMENT STRATEGIES LESSON INTRODUCTION

The lesson begins with viewing the video interview with Rachel Thomas. As an individual with lived experience, Ms. Thomas articulates a comprehensive overview of the recruitment strategies employed by traffickers to trick and deceive young people. Thomas draws on her own experiences to enlighten students about the warning signs to be aware of for themselves and for their friends and loved ones. Please review the five strategies listed below with your students after watching the interview. Following the video and class discussion, the students will break into groups to read, analyze, and discuss the online grooming scenarios. By the end of the lesson, students will have a better understanding of how to remain safe from predators.
